The very beautiful petal-shaped structure lies on the hills called the Pakistan Monument. It is a national monument of Pakistan that symbolizes the unity of Pakistani people. History of Pakistan Monument
The former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf was first proposed to create a national monument in Islamabad in 2002. The foundation stone of the Pakistan Monument was laid in 2004, after which in 2005, the Council of Architects and Town Planners organized a nationwide contest to select a design for the landmark. Twenty-One architects from all over Pakistan sent their proposals. Finally, the winning design of the Pakistan Monument went to architect Arif Masoud.
In 2006, The monument was completed under the supervision of Engineer Syed Mahmud Khalid. The inauguration ceremony was held on 23rd March 2007 in Islamabad and this was open for the public with a total cost of approximately Rs. 580 million.

History of Pakistan Monument
The giant flower-like structure that consists of seven petals. The four large petals representing the four provinces – Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the three smaller petals represent Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and FATA (Now part of KP). This blooming flower structure represents Pakistan as a rapidly progressing country.
The grand structure is made up of granite and decorated with murals that are based on remarkable artwork. These murals illustrate the story of the independence of Pakistan. They also demonstrate several landmarks of Pakistan, such as Minar-e-Pakistan, Karakorum Highway, Khyber Pass, Badshahi Mosque, and Gawadar. The decorating team spent around 119,000 hours, creating these magnificent murals which are led by Zarar Haider Babri and Kausar Jahan.

In front of the monument there is a small pentagonal monument. From the top, the monument looks like a crescent moon and a star, these show the crescent and a star on Pakistan’s flag.
The monument has various other features, including the four pillars that display Quaid-e-Azam’s motto ‘Unity, Faith, Discipline’ both in Urdu and English. From the middle of the monument, a large fountain emerges, making it a fabulous sight for the visitors.

Pakistan Monument Museum
The Monument has two distinct sections, the main monument and the museum. The Museum is also known as Islamabad Museum. It is located across from the Pakistan Monument. The Pakistan Monument Museum illustrates Pakistan’s history, culture, ancient civilization, the birth of Pakistan, and the major achievements of Pakistan.
