Location Of Kallar Kahar

Kalar Kahar is located 25 km southwest of Chakwal city, province Punjab, and Tehsil of district Chakwal. It is considered to be a crown of the Salt Range. It is 126 km away from Capital Islamabad and 225 km from Lahore on M2 motorway. This place is the midpoint of the route while travelling from Lahore to Islamabad. History of Kallar Kahar

It is said that the founder of the Mughal empire, Zaheer ud din Babur discovered Kallar Kahar when he passing by the Lake on his conquering quest in 1519 A.D. over from Kabul on his way to Delhi with his armies. He stayed at Kallar Kahar and camped there, He was inspired by the beauty of the place, especially the Kallar Kahar Lake which was formed by the water that gushed from natural spring. Near the lake Zaheer ud din, Babar laid the foundation of the first Mughal garden here that he called Bagh-i-Safa’ which still stands. In the middle of the garden, the throne cut out of stone by the Emporer Zaheer ud din Babar where he stood to address his army, which is called Takht-e-Babri. It is a very famous site, many people visit to see Takht daily.

Kallar Kahar Lake

kallar kahar lake is the salt water lake due to the deposits of rock salt. The lake looks beautiful at night dazzling with moonlight and stars. Salt Lake of kallar kahar is a very natural recreational popular spot for visit. kalar kahar lake is 25 km from Chakwal city. This lake has been declared by the Punjab wildlife and parks department as a game reserve. Numerous motels and resorts have been built along the lake. TDCP construct a park in front of its motel and along the lake. The lake is surrounded by mountains that attract several species of birds migrate here during winter. It is 1000 feet above sea level and is about 7 miles wide. One can enjoy boating and fishing in the lake. The lake remains filled with the water which falls into it after getting oozed out of the natural springs that looks stunning. A few yards away from the lake, there lies Bagh-i-Safa, the first-ever Mughal Garden in the subcontinent. It is a very beautiful and saltwater lake because salt mine also nearby.

Molat Fort

Molat fort is a part of kallar kahar. It is 40 km from Chakwal city and 12 km from kallar kahar. It was built on the top of a hill in Molat village, beautifully built of bright red sandstones of salt range mountains, that makes for wonderful pictures, especially at sunrise. It’s a unique fort in the region and historical site in the Salt Range. Molat fort was constructed by Janjua Emperor Raja Mal dev Khan in the 12th century. There are two Hindu temples which are a beautiful combination of ancient Kashmir and Greek architecture. A sequence of different rulers came and went to rule over Molat.

Swaik lake

Swaik lake also known as khandoya lake. It is 10 km away from kallar kahar. It is also called neela pani. This lake is between most astounding rocks, cliffs, and mountains.  Swaik Lake had many adventurous activities like swimming in the lake, splashing water on one other and enjoying, diving, and camping activates. The cascading waterfall situated at the lake and the water is so clear that one can see a tiny fish. It is a wonderful attraction and fun for many adventurous people.

Neela wahn Lake

Neela Wahn, is a beautiful natural waterfall and lake in Kaller kahar, Neela means Blue and Wahan means Water Pond. It is 25 km from Chakwal city. Locally called “Chasma-ab-e-Shifa”, because of its crystal clear blue water, which is naturally formed by the waterfall from the mountain. It is known for its beautiful streams, waterfalls, and Salt Lake water. This place attracts many tourists due to its, greenery natural beauty for hiking, camping, and swimming.

  • Here is a museum which is called Kallar kahar museum. Fossils of 50 million years old of different animals, including a dinosaur, elephants, lions, etc. are placed in the gallery of Kallar kahar.In 2008 when the government of Punjab has announced the establishment of Kallar kahar museum.

There are many shinwari restaurants in kallar kahar, and Dumba shinwari is a special dish to eat from there. Many restaurants, shops, and markets opened at night.
  • Shrine of sakhi hoo bahoo is also must visited place in Kallar kahar. It is also well-known shrine in Pakistan and a very popular tourist destination.The Shrine is located on the top of the hill that provided a panoramic view of the surroundings.it is also called Moron wali Sarkar, or the saint of the peacocks, you will see the peacocks dancing and spreading their feathers. wandering here and there in the hills. The best view of the peacocks can be enjoyed from the top near Saint Sakhi Sultan Bahu’s shrine. The area is very beautiful, calm and serene.
