Hanna Lake | Quetta’s most pleasurable tourist destination

Hanna Lake is Quetta’s historic tourist point, nestled deep in the towering mountains. It is included in the list of most beautiful places in Pakistan. People frequently visit this place and for a moment they forget their all worries. The majestic mountains with a naked brownish environment add to its beauty. It is the most visited lake in Balochistan.

As you enter, you will see a beautiful Hanna Lake inscribed on a mud slope. You have to walk a little from the parking lot, Beautiful trees around the lake, snow-capped peaks, and sometimes dark clouds present remarkable views. The landscape of the lake is picturesque; its turquoise blue water offers a wonderful contrast to sandy brown mountains in the background. The natural beauty here is terrific.

Facilities available for Visitors

Hanna Lake is a popular picnic point with many facilities. There are lakeside restaurants and shady pine trees under which the people enjoy food and see the awesome views of the lake. The lake also has some family huts, an army guest house, and kids’ play areas. In this lake, people can do boating, swimming, camping, rowing, sailing, and fishing. Visitors can easily take a boat ride to wander around the small island situated in the middle of Hanna Lake.

Hayatullah khan Durani established Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy (HDWSA) Hanna Lake on 14 of Augest 1986. It is the only rowing, canoeing, kayaking, and sailing training center at Hanna Lake in Balochistan.

History of Hanna Lake

Hanna Lake is constructed in 1894 in the British Era. The main objective for building this lake is to provide cheap water for the population, increase the underground water level, and irrigation of the surrounding lands. The lake spread on 818 Acre land and has a storage capacity of 220 million Gallons of water in it.

Initially, the middle part of the lake where the hut is located did not exist before. It was built by the Army Chief Mirza Aslam Baig in 1991 to enhance the beauty of the lake.

Hanna Lake is located about 17 KM from Quetta, the capital of Balochistan. On the way to Lake Hanna, you will find many beautiful views. It is easily accessible from Quetta city by bus or you can hire a taxi. Hanna Lake is the starting point of Urak Valley. When visiting this lake also try to visit Hingol National Park and Moola Chotok in Balochistan.
