The Gurdwara Dera Sahib Sri Guru Arjun Dev is a historic Sikh place, located in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. It commemorates the spot where the 5th guru of Sikhism, Guru Arjan Dev was martyred on April 20th, 1606. It’s a sacred place to Sikhs as it holds many historic events.

The architecture of Gurdwara Dera Sahib is a beautiful blend of Mughal and Sikh styles. The main hall has an exquisite dome roof decorated with paintings from Guru Nanak Dev Ji’. There is also a Samadhi of Ranjit Singh which was built by his son Kharak Singh. On June 16, Sikh pilgrims from all over the world come here and express their devotion. History of Gurdwara Dera sahib
The Gurdwara marks the place where Guru Arjan Dev was martyred. In 1619, his son Hargobind Singh (6th guru) built a building in honor of Guru Arjun Dev (5th guru) which was very small. Later, Ranjit Singh built a Gurdwara on the site, that’s located opposite to the Lahore fort and near to the Badshahi Mosque. Guru Arjan Dev JI compiled the Guru Granth, the principal part of Sikh scriptures. The Gurdwara houses several relics including an old copy of Adi Granth Sahib.
