Gates of Bahawalpur is also a big attraction for tourists. These gates were built to protect the city so that entrances and exits to the city could be monitored. There are 7 Gates in the city include Bikaneri Gate, Bohar Gate, Multani Gate, Ahmedpuri Gate, Dirawari Gate, Mori Gate, and Shikarpuri Gate. Inside the Farid Gate, is a huge famous Shahi Bazaar. This is a very busy market of Bahawalpur and when tourists come to see Bahawalpur, they visit this bazaar.

History of Bahawalpur

The history of Bahawalpur is more than 200 years old (1748 to 1954). This city had 12 Nawabs that ruled over here and developed it a lot which is seen and envied today. It was founded in 1748 by Nawab Bahawal Khan 1. It was an independent state before Pakistan was formed. In 1954, during the rule of the last Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V, Bahawalpur State was merged with Pakistan. The Nawab of Bahawalpur, after becoming Pakistan, set up his economy and paid the salaries of the entire country. Nawab of Bahawalpur is one of the heroes of Pakistan.

Location of Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur is in southern Punjab, located on the edge of the Cholistan Desert. The city is near the Uch and Harappa which are famous ancient and historical cities.  It’s approximately 430 km from the Capital of Punjab Lahore, 95 km from Multan and 631 km from Islamabad.
