The Mausoleum of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya
Whenever Multan is mentioned, the place that must come to mind is “Mausoleum of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya”. Hazrat Baha-ud-Din Zakariya was the great Sufi master. The Mausoleum was built in the middle of the 13th century. It is a significant architectural site, decorated with blue tiles and Arabic inscriptions which enhance its beauty. Its beautiful white dome and corner minarets can be seen from miles away that amazes onlookers. It is one of the best mystic places in the world.
The base of the mausoleum is a square shape, above it there is an octagonal tier, about half the height of the square, which is topped by a white dome. The Mausoleum of Shah Rukn e Alam
The Mausoleum of Shah Rukn-e-Alam is the magnificence of Multan. Shah Rukn-e-Alam was the grandson of Bahauddin Zakariya. It is one of the most striking shrines in the Indian subcontinent, more than 700 years old. A tour of Multan is not complete without visiting the Mausoleum of Shah Rukn-e-Alam.
This is also situated on the fort mound at the northwestern edge, in the middle of Multan city. Fort Kohna Multan
Fort kohna is a very old fort, also called Multan fort. It was built on a high mound in the middle of the city nearly 2,500 years ago. The fort contained 46 bastions and 4 entrance gates, namely Hareiri Gate, Sikki Gate, Khizri Gate, and Qasim Gate, out of which, only the Qasim Gate remains standing today. It was destroyed during the British Rule in 1848 to avenge the death of Lieutenant Alexander vans Agnew. The main purpose of the construction of the fort is to defend the city against invaders from west and northern neighboring cities.
The main attractions of the fort area are the Tomb of Shah Rukne Alam and his grandfather’s tomb Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya, a small cricket stadium, Nigaar Khana ( art Gallery), and an amazing point called Damdma. Monument of Van Alexander Agnew
The Monument of Van Alexander Agnew was founded by the British East India Company in honour of Patrick Alexander Vans Agnew (1822-48). Alexander was a Madras officer and afterwards a director of the East India Company. He was killed by Sikh Govt when it was Sikh Raj in Multan. The monument stands tall on the top mound in Qasim Bagh and can be seen from far off places.
Yadgar e Shuhada
