A magnificent place to visit in Pakistan, Naltar valley in Gilgit Baltistan. This sublime beauty is located 54 km from Gilgit city. Naltar Valley is considered as a major attraction in Gilgit Baltistan. There are two villages in Naltar, Naltar Bala and Naltar Pine, at a distance of 34 and 40 km.

Naltar Skiing Resort

Naltar Valley is the home to all skiing activities in Pakistan. Naltar ski resort is the highest ski resort and one of the oldest ski resorts in Pakistan, established in 1965. Naltar ski resort situated in the Karakoram range of the Naltar Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, at an elevation of 2,950 meters. The resort is located, 40 kilometers away from Gilgit. It also serves as the main facility for the Ski Federation of Pakistan that holds all ski events such as, International Ski Championship, National Ski Championships, ice hockey & Snowboarding competitions.

International skiers from all over the world are invited to Naltar skiing tournaments. The resort is under the control of Pakistan Air Force, there is a base camp of Pakistan Air Force at Naltar for making this resort truly high quality and providing all possible facilities of international standard. The longest ski chair lift was also installed in Nalter with a length of 1.5 km.

Naltar Lakes

Naltar is also famous for its beautiful lakes. It is home to three wonderful lakes known collectively as the Naltar lakes or Bashkiri Lakes. These lakes have colourful crystal clear water. The trek of the lakes is stunning due to its serene beauty of lush green surroundings and snowcapped peaks.

 The 1st number lake is Satrangi Lake (Seven colour lake) or rainbow lake is a beautiful and multicolour lake in Naltar valley. Due to the different colours of the lake, it is called Satrangi lake. It is 13 km from Naltar Bala, located at an altitude of 3050 m.

2nd number lake is the Blue lake or Blue star lakes is another attractive lake in Naltar Valley. The distance between Satrangi lake and Blue lake is only 1 km. The colour of the lake is full blue that makes a very breathtaking view. The blue lake is very deep than Satrangi lake. 3rd number lake is The Bodroko lake also called Pari lake. Bodroko means a dusty black lake. The lake is 15 km from Naltar Bala.

Wildlife in Naltar Valley

Naltar valley is famous for some of the very rare wild animals. Naltar is also a wildlife sanctuary that is created in 1975. This Naltar Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of almost 27, 206 hectares. There are two other adjoined areas, Sher Qila Game reserve(SQGR), and Pakora Game Reserve (PGR) in this way the total occupied area becomes (50,000 hectares).

It is a protected area to save and preserve the wildlife that is rare to be seen in the valley such as Markhor (the national animal of Pakistan), ibex, brown bear, snow leopard, ducks, chakor, and partridge. Hunting is prohibited here and the officials keep an eye on the hunting and other illegal activities to secure wildlife.
